Perfect Nails Biography
Looking for a beautiful way to enhance the look of your nails? Nail art can complement your outfit for a special event or add a unique flair to your every day appearance. Nail art designs enable you to emphasize the look you are trying to portray or brighten up your nails with beautiful, unique designs. The Nail Spa dedicated nail artists display a range of stunning nail art in each spa or can create custom designs specifically for your special occasion. The Nail Spa offers the following nail art servicesNails naturally yellow and ridge with time. For shiny, fuss-free, perfect nails, try a Bio-Sculpture Nail Gel treatment, from £35 a session. The gel, which is painted over the nail (think thick varnish), comes in a choice of either clear (which has a white-gel tip for a great French Manicure) or coloured. Once set, the gel lasts and lasts, although re-growth will need to be filled in every two weeks or so. But the real bonus is that the gelled nails look immaculate and totally natural, without any worry of chips or breakages - plus, your nails remain healthy underneath. Personally, I'm addicted to it.Benefits: Chip-proof nail colour for up to three weeks. Verdict: Nothing could chip or break my nails after this manicure. Applied in gel form, you effectively have fake nails painted on top of your own - but they looked completely natural. The gel dries under UV light, which means it's hard as nails before you can even leave the salon. The odd crack began to show after ten days, and you need a special solution to dissolve the gel. If you want long-lasting nails, this is for you. 9/10

THE SUN - SCULPT YOUR WAY TO CELEB NAILS
The biggest celeb craze right now is Bio Sculpture Gel - loved by Charlotte Church, Jessica Alba and Jordan. This is a non-chip nail gel that should see you through your summer holiday and beyond. It is effectively like having fake nails painted on top of your own nails. Sculpting gel is used to build nail extensions, protecting the natural nails and allowing those that are weak and brittle to grow. The finish can either be left natural looking or there is a choice of over 100 different colours, and the gel is easily removed without any damage to your natural nails. Prices start from £35.00 for Gel treatments. For your nearest salon offering the gel treatments call 0845 331 2347 or go to biosculpture.co.uk Beautifully
What's new in the world of beauty treatments? There's only one way to find out - so Ingeborg van Lotringen and her testers prepared to be pampered. It can be a tough job. Perfect 10: nailed Regular manicures chip within days. One answer would be acrylics, but do you really want to spend the time and money, and risk the relative damage to your nails? Me neither. I needed an alternative-and found one. A Bio Sculpture Manicure stays perfect for about two weeks but is applied like any regular manicure with no glues or drills going anywhere near you. The secret is that instead of regular varnish, non-acrylic soluble gels are used - and they dry in seconds to leave hard but flexible protective layers. My nails were painted with a base coat, then buffed slightly for grip. Two layers of Bio Sculpture Gel followed - I opted for clear gel and white tips, but there's a vast choice of colours you can choose from if you prefer - and my rather brilliant Jiheyon finished off with a top coat for extra gloss. The genius of the gel is that it only comes off with a special solvent, so you can paint any varnish over it and wipe it off without affecting your Bio Sculpture manicure underneath. Also, because it dries instantly, its the one manicure (or pedicure) after which you truly can be out the door straight away, unlike 'express manicures' where the half-dry polish comes off the minute you reach for your purse or step into your shoes. The manicure grows out from the root, but after about two weeks you can fill this in with take-home products or have infills done at the salon, giving you another two or three weeks. Lengthening nails is possible too, with your technician building a gel sculpture using thin layers of gel. Fabulousensures nails grow strong and healthy. A great alternative to acrylic nails, BIO SCULPTURE GEL is flexible and strong and easy to apply with no unhealthy fumes or odors. No drills and no masks are required. You will love seeing your nails transformed. Choose from a wide range of fashionable colours, or french finish, your fingers and toes will look beautiful. Long wearing and chip proof, your nails will keep their well manicured look long after application. Soaks off clean in 15 minutes with no damage to your natural nail. BIO SCULPTURE GEL has no odors, no fumes, free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and Parabens. Free of MMA (The chemical that smells so bad). Maintenance is required every 3 weeks
Nail Supplies Biography

"Viva La Nails" isn't just another online store. "Viva La Nails" is a place to hang out, to get the scoop on the hottest new developments in nail care technology to and find out new ways to constantly improve the quality of your nail care and your artistry.

This website isn't just a business venture, it's my way of helping aspiring nail care technicians to transform their work from a mere craft into an art. My name is Una Pecatti, and I myself am a nail care technician, so I know all of the ins and outs of this industry. When you come and spend your time at this website, you aren't just getting great products, you are benefiting from my many years of experience in the real world of nail art and professional nail care.

I am proud to welcome you to Viva La Nails. I invite you to think of this store as your one stop shop for all of your nail care needs. We sell a huge variety of nail art products, but we also carry all of the essential traditional nail care tools such as nail files, nail tips, nail art stickers and nail art magazines. I am proud to say that we are also now an official distributor of the very fine line of Konad nail art products as well as the developers of our own new exclusive water decal technique. Over all, we have more than 2000 products in stockWe know how frustrating it is to order a product from an online store only to receive an email a few days later saying that the product is out of stock. I hate that! Be assured that when you order from "Viva La Nails", this will never happen. Every product that you see listed as "In Stock" here is in stock RIGHT NOW. And whenever you order an item from us, no matter how large or how small, we will dispatch it within 24 hours (Mon - Fri), guaranteed!

Also, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to send us an email. Our friendly customer service team will send you a reply with 24 hours. In addition we also offer a live chat option during our regular office hours.

When you shop at "Viva La Nails" you can rest assured that your needs will always come first. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all of our products as well as a 30 day product exchange policy. For us, helping our customers be the best nail salon technicians and mobile nail care technicians that they can be is our greatest reward, and we will do anything that we can to facilitate this process. P.S. If you're unsure about anything, don't be afraid to just poke around or send us an email. No question is too small or insignificant. We'd love to hear from you and offer your our advice. This is a place for you to relax and make your job into your passion. Be the best that you can be, and always remember to come back and visit "Viva La Nails"!In some circles, these gorgeous nail art accessories are referred to as "Cat Eye Stones." This appellation is rumoured to come from their peculiar ability to change their appearance when viewed under different lighting conditions. No matter how you decide to use them, Nail Art Stones will provide a startling addition to your client's nails.

You can either work these stones in between two layers of gel while building extensions or attach them directly to the nail surface using a special nail glue. (You should not however, use ordinary super glue for this purpose!) If you use these stones along with a gel technique, this produces a wonderful three dimensional effect.

One thing that I often use these little gems for is creating flower designs. The stones look brilliant when used as the centrepiece of a flower. The contrast between this sparkling gem and the petals surrounding it is really something to see.

Your order will come in a package of 30 - 50 stones (depending on colour, exact number of stones is shown in the product's picture), in four different assorted sizes. For ease of storage, the stones will be packed in a re-sealable plastic bag. We market these stones in nine distinct colours. If your clients seem to have a few clear favourites, make sure to keep these varieties on file at all times so as not to disappoint them!
If you are not familiar with our company and your first contact with us is online: We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.We gave you a little taste of New-York-based nail artist, Maki Sakamotao, a while back, and now we go more in depth with her background and an in depth look at work from her portfolio. The title nail artist is appropriate for her because she has the gift of talent combined with creativity that lifts her above her peers. She can put down a complex design as well as anyone, but her signature is more in her details and where and how she places a stud or stone so that her work has artistic symmetry and depth that draws one in. Click to the next page to read more about Maki and see more of her work. Also, please be kind to Maki and credit her should you reuse these photos.

Celebrities whose nails she’s painted include M.I.A., Solange Knowles, plus actress Brook Shields and NY Times fashion editor Sally Singer are regular clients. She has also assisted at fashion shows including, Michael Kors, Betsy Johnson and (oh-my-gosh) Tom Ford’s recent show, where in step with indivualized nature of the fashion, each model received a custom color nail polish. Its a goal of hers to eventually lead her own fashion show.

Her home base of operations is New York’s well-known Valley Spa [UPDATE: Maki is no longer with Valley, see email contact below for info], where she has put down thousands of nail designs over the past four years. As for trends, she sees taupe colors as leading the way for Spring, with matte remaining important. All of her regular clients have left behind square-shaped nails for oval or pointy nails and studs have been a rising trend lately, too. She was born in Japan and in her place of birth she says virtually everyone has converted to Cal-Gel and she thinks Americans will eventually embrace it, too, and says, “It healthy and it helps you grow long nails. It’s not a trend and will grow more here.
Nail Art Kit Biography
Creating colorful finger nails with decorative designs are now possible with the help of a nail art kit. Women can do their own design with a nail pen or can also go to a certified technician for getting a beautiful airbrushed patternNail designs have evolved from single color polish to intricate patterns. With a nail art kit, women can easily change nail designs to match their outfit. Complicated design patterns are done by certified technicians while simple designs can be done at home using the right materials. A technician’s nail art kit includes an airbrush, compressor, stencils and paints. The colors and miniature images are applied on the nail with an airbrush guided by the stencil. Some designs can easily be done by anyone using acrylic paints, brushes, glitter polish, stickers and rhinestones. Gel Nail Kit Biography

It’s no State Styling Secret that when it comes to all things beauty, I’m lazy with a capital L.
Don’t get me wrong, I very much want the finished, perfectly adequately groomed product. I just don’t have the time to be fussing about to get there.
Especially with my nails.
Which is why I fell big time more than two years ago (way before that beauty wagon was hooked up to the band) for CND Shellac manicures.
For starters, I do love a sneaky beauty outsourcing.
For seconders, I’m SHOCKING with my nails. I should be locked up for Cruelty to Nails. I am that bad. So the fact that this beauty outsourcing could last me more than a day? Yep, big fan. HUGE.
Over the past year or so, I’ve reduced my Shellac habit outsourcing to about once a month, usually pinning a salon visit to an upcoming occasion or event.
My nails are happier with a little Nail-Cation in between … because while Shellac does not do to nails what my short affair with acrylics did back in the day, I found that if I did get back-to-back applications, my nails got weaker over time.

What I had also started to notice – and I’d be curious to find out if anyone else has found this too (or it’s just my dodgy nails?) - was that many of the colours just were not lasting like they did in the beginning. In under a week – sometimes just a few days – the colour would peel off like plastic. Especially with the opaque colours.

So, when a couple of the other gel nail companies introduced – and sent me* – home gel nail kits over the last few months, I decided to give them a go. Even though the very concept of DIY nails is technically outside of my lazy-girl beauty ways.

I’ve never had the salon versions of both of these brands – although some of the people I follow on Twitter from the US rave about the Gelish nail system – so I don’t have a salon experience to compare with the at-home version. Both use an LED lamp to cure the gel; as opposed to a UV lamp for Shellac. This makes for a quicker curing process.

But if you want to find out what I thought about the home versions, read on, Stylers.

… and please, all you beautifully talented nail bloggers out there … I know. I do not give good mani. See above re preference for outsourcing. What you need: LED light ($99); Starter Kit – Cleanser, Remover, lint-free wipes, cuticle tool, nail file, pocket gel removers, primer, base + top ($79.95); colours $23.95 each

Time: less than 20 minutes

Process: Once you have everything set out in front of you, it’s quite easy to work through the steps required to achieve a good finished product. The starter kit includes everything, including the handy lint-free wipes for cleansing the nail. If you’ve had a Shellac salon application before, the steps are pretty much the same. Get your nails and cuticles in order, cleanse the nail, add base+top coat, two coats of colour and then base+top coat again with curing in between. Finish with a nail cleanser and some cuticle oil on each nail.

Nailing it: The LED light is more stable and more powerful than the Gelish Mini so it only required 30 second curing of each coat. Like the Gelish system, this Orly system claims to give you up to three weeks of chip-free nails. Unfortunately I didn’t get even a week with two fingers on my right hand … perhaps it is MY nails and applicator error. I much preferred the less time this system took though, so it was easy to go back and re-do the nails that lifted. Removal was simple, a little soaking in the pocket gel removers for 10 minutes then wipe and orange stick off. What you need: Mini Pro LED Curing light ($59.95); Mini Basix Kit – pH Bond, Foundation, Top it Off, Nourish, Cleanser, Artificial Nail Remover, nail file, orange sticks ($39.95); Mini Colour gels $19.95 each

Time: about 30 minutes

Process: Just like the Orly system above, the first step is a good one. You prep your nails as you would for any mani, dealing with dodgy cuticles and nail shape, then apply a primer – the Gelish Mini pH Bond. This soaks right into the nail bed and draws away any oils that might interfere with the layering and curing of the gel. It’s not until the final base coat that your nails are good to go (you still do the cleanser and cuticle oil on top as with the Orly system) but the staying power of the gel is proving pretty damn awesome.

Nailing it: The finish with this gel seems to be stronger than the Orly on my nails. I was impressed that the colour was super easy to apply and, although far from perfect, did make it almost fool-proof for me to achieve some sort of OK finish. The “tackiness” between each coat was something for me to get used to. And by getting used to I mean, watch for indadvertedly brushing off tacky-ed colour onto arm and then table. The lamp is not as robust as the Orly lamp but quite suitable for home use. Removal of the colour took a bit more time than the Orly but only a few minutes more.

Colours: 72 (I chose Tiger Blossom, a deep orange)

Where to buy: Price Attack, Hairhouse Warehouse and selected stockists. Phone 03 9575 0600

Stuff to consider

1. The initial outlay for either system is the equivalent to two-three salon gel applications. Once you have everything, it will be a matter of topping up your colour supply and other bits as they run out. There is still definitely a medium-term cost saving there for regular salon gel lovers.

2. Both this and the Gelish LED lamps are smaler than salon versions so you need to do your thumbs separately.

3. If you want to change your nail colour before the two-three weeks is up, you can. Just add regular polish over the top and remove with normal cleanser.

4. You do have to do it yourself! Yes, that means getting over your lazy-girl ways (don’t worry I get that you may never want to get over them … that’s ok too)
source(google.com.pk)
Icn Nails Biography

The blurb: The 3 week manicure is also known as the everlasting manicure. This involves applying a layer of gel over your natural nails that is set under a UV lamp. The gel leaves your nails incredibly smooth and glossy and because it doesn’t set until it’s under the UV lamp, the manicurist has time to ensure it is absolutely perfect.
This revolutionary treatment is available in a variety of gorgeous colors as well as the classic French manicure.
The 3 week manicure is 2 manicures in 1. You can paint over the top of your gel if you fancy a change and if you remove the polish with an acetone free nail polish remover; your 3 week manicure will remain perfect underneath! Your chosen shade will remain chip free and super glossy for up to 3 weeks.”
First impressions: This enamel is incredibly glossy and eye-catching, if it lasts as well as they claim, it is the perfect mani for the uber busy working mother (c’est moi!). I love to wear strong colors on my nails, but any chips or flaws are immediately obvious, it a very high maintenance look (bats eyelashes).
Ease of Use: This treatment is actually as impressive, glossy and super long lasting as the claims. I have been digging sandcastles on holiday with my bear hands (where is the damn au pair when I need her?) and the sand has not abrased or affected the glossy nail enamel one jot! Be sure to have a very short manicure when you have the gel applied, or the nails become uncomfortably long before next mani. One cannot file ones own nails without disturbing the gel and upsetting the manicure (damn!).
Pros: This super glossy manicure remains perfect and rock solid for at least 3 weeks. It grows out a little, at the nail bed, but not so that it looks obvious or unkempt.
Cons: It is essential to book one’s next manicure well in advance (approximately 2 weeks) as it can be difficult to get an appointment for this popular treatment at the last minute. Don’t attempt to book Leah at Westfield – she is mine, all mine (mwahahaha)!
If you decide to keep the treatment up, you should be sure to purchase a loyalty card, as otherwise it will cost £20 to have the gel removed and this can become expensive. When the gel has been removed, the surface of the nail is a little rough, but nothing that cannot be covered with clear polish.
The nail technicians actually use Bio Sculpture Gel for this treatment, so if you do not live near a branch of Nails Inc, check out your local beauty salon to see if they use this product and you could have it done locally.
Value for money: 5/5 At £50 per manicure, it is not cheap, but if you purchase a loyalty card for £150, you can have 4 manicures and soak offs for the price of 3, without paying for the soak offs at all! Each card will keep you glossy for a full 3 months and this treatment cuts down the amount of time spent having manicures dramatically (for those of us who are time poor)After your fresh coat of uv gel nail polish has lost its original luster, or you become tired of having assistance to open cans, you may consider removing gel nails. If ever there was a time that Lee Press Ons from the 80’s were handy to have around, it’s at removal time. No matter if you’ve had bio gel nails applied or something else, getting them off isn’t done in the same methods that it used to be. You can use products like Gelish nails removal soak if you like, but to do them at home without purchasing a bunch or products (you already spent a pretty penny on those ibd nails in the first place no doubt) all you really need is a steady hand and a nail file.

You may cringe at the thought of taking a file to your precious icn nails, but it’s the cheapest, surefire way to guarantee removal and protection of the nail underneath. To start removing gel nails at home, get your file (150-180 grit) ready. Start by cutting away protrusions with a clipper. Use the file to evenly and gently wear away the gel and move it around while filing so it doesn’t feel toasty or uncomfortable. This will not be a five minute fix, and removing gel nails via this method is going to take awhile, so get comfortable. You are likely going to shake up a lot of dust, and get rid of it as often as possible. The amount of dust you are kicking up is a clue as to how close to the natural nail you are. Once you start seeing a dramatic reduction in dust, you know you’re getting close to your hidden real nail. When you are close to your own nails, swap out your tool to a finer file and continue very gently to get rid of any remaining gel. Being cautious will help you to not damage the nail underneath.
I got so many compliments off of it yesterday everyone was saying how they loved the tan color Getting Bio Gel placed on your nails is a great alternative to acrylic nail manicures. Many times, after removing acrylic from your nails, you will find that your nails become weak and brittle. Bio Gel encourages your nails to grow and become stronger. The gel can be applied directly on top of your nail beds with or without artificial nail tips. There is a process on and there is a process off for the Bio Gel. You want to make sure that you are removing the gel properly to avoid damage to your nails. Does this Spark an ideaCrackle Nail Polish Our company has gained immense recognition in this domain for manufacturing and presenting an excellent assortment of Crackle Nail Polish. At our premises, these are available in various vibrant and attractive colors that enhance the beauty of nails. Our offered collection is renowned for its long lasting effects and do not peel easily. Specifications From the Treasure of mother nature we have collected plenty of beautOften women sit in the salon for about an hour to get a cute, unique, and personal design for their manicures, but with crackle nail polish, you can have the salon look by spending about fifteen minutes in the comfort of your own home.

Crackle or shatter nail polishes are a new type of nail polish that splits and cracks as it dries to reveal the nail polish color underneath. Crackle nail polishes work the way a traditional nail polish isn’t supposed to. A traditional nail polish is supposed to dry slowly and uniformly across the nail in a smooth, even application. Crackle nail polishes have added a special solvent called ethanol alcohol that allows the polish to dry quickly and unevenly. I ordered these 6 China Glaze Nail Lacquers (which come as a set) from Ebay India through Global Easy Buy. My packet was received safe and intact within 3 weeks from the date of order. The price was Rs. 1,880, which included shipping from USA to India. I am really super-duper excited as I have been drooling over crackle or shatter nail polishes ever since I saw them on the internet a while back.Crackle nail polish is fun and easy to apply. Shake the bottle of nail polish for a few seconds. This will help to mix the nail polish and remove air bubbles. Paint your nails a base color. Bold or bright colored polish makes the most dramatic, eye-catching looks. After the base coat is completely dry, apply a coat of crackle nail polish over the base color. Tap the nail polish brush on the side of the bottle to remove excess polish. Paint a strip down the center and on both sides of each fingernail. Once the nail polish is completely painted on, watch the transformation from plain to a one-of-a-kind crackle design appear.

There are three important guidelines to get the full effect of your new nail polish.

First, you choose a base color for your nails, which you allow to completely dry.

Second, the thinner you apply the crackle nail polish, the more cracks you will have. Therefore, if you want to have very few cracks, then you would apply more crackle nail polish and vice-versa if you want more. Finally, the cracked effects may chip off without a top coat so, be sure to use a top coat for the longest lasting look.

The shade being reviewed ‘Black Mesh’ is in my opinion the most versatile of all the 6 colours. To get the maximum optical effect, Black Mesh should be applied over any really bright, contrast colour, and it will also look great even on top of white nail polish.

Let’s see how I worked with this colour; my first-ever application of crackle nail polish.
Nail Care Biography

The fundamental rule is to treat your nails as jewels not tools!
Always use gloves when washing up.
Try to use gloves whenever cleaning, the contents of many cleaning products are harsh and can damage or dehydrate hands and nails.
Try to use gloves whenever gardening, dirt and grit can get trapped in the edges of your beautiful new nails.
Always apply hand lotion after washing hands to maintain moisture of the hands and nails.
For more intense moisturising, use a cuticle oil such as CND’s Award Winning Solar Oil combined with a quality hand lotion and apply just before bedtime to experience their full effect.
Additional care for bio sculpture or minx nails

Never use the end of your nail to lift the end of a reel of tape. Find another tool such as a knife to do this, as frequently this action can lead to lifting of the Bio Sculpture Gel or Minx product at the end of the nail.
Never peel off your gel nails! Nails are constructed of many layers and doing so can lift not just the product but layers of your nails too! This results in weak and splitting nails. Make sure that you make an appointment to have them professionally soaked off in the salon. It takes only a quarter of an hour and is completely pain free, leaving your nails strong and naturally healthy. Some clients prefer to soak the gel offthemselves, so Bio Sculpture Gel Remover is available to purchase in the salon but it would be advised that you have had at least one removal professionally done first so that you can see how it is done.
To maintain the shine of your beautiful gel nails, use Bio Sculpture nail polish remover (acetone free) to remove the top coat and reapply Bio Sculpture high gloss blue top coat approximately once a week or whenever you feel it is required. All Bio Sculpture products are available from the Nail Vision Salon at very reasonable prices.I was reading many of your postings and I really appreciate your willingness to share your expertise and time. I have recently learned to do Bio Sculpture Nails and was hoping to making a career out of it but I keep running into the same problem over and over. My gel nails keep lifting so how can I promote this product with honesty? When my nail gel lifts it is not just at the back or just at the front, it is sometimes the sides too. I have been practicing on myself and eliminating any possible irritant or product that could be causing the lifting. My instructor says that I must be doing something as this product just does not lift. Initially I felt she must be right and as it happened time and time again, I eliminated more and things to the point where I can't see that I could possibly be doing anything to cause this. In my refresher class, she used me as a model and did two nails--within 48 hours one of them was lifting up the side and she was careful to clean them I noted. The second nail was good for a little over two weeks and it is just now starting to lift. I beg to differ that it must be something I am doing. Have you ever ran into this before? Is there some people that this Bio Sculpture does not stick to or do you concur that is there something that I am doing to cause this. I am not hard on my nails. I am not sticking them in chemicals. I use non-latex gloves, etc. I would be most grateful for your thoughts on this dilemma. The only thing I haven't tried is not using Executive Base underneath--is it possible that some people's nails are too oily for gels? I really want this product to work for me. Please help! Beauty and nails are complementary to each other, and taking care of one's nail plays a major role in any beauty regime. You can start by following some basic practices like never biting your nails, not using your fingernails as tools to open cans and jars, avoiding dipping your hands in chemicals and strong detergents etc. Healthy diet can help you to grow long, beautiful and strong nails. Make sure to include lots of proteins, folic acid, iron, vitamins, zinc etc in your diet. It is always preferable to go for natural resources rather than artificial supplements of above mentioned minerals. Drink lots of fresh carrot and beetroot juice as these help in the growth of the nails. Beauty and nails go hand in hand, and healthy nails show that you are not only a fashionista, but also health conscious. Start your regime by removing any nail polish with a remover especially one without acetone. Follow this by dipping your hands and legs in luke warm water mixed with lime juice. You can also use the fleshy part of the lime to clean underneath your nails. Next, use a mild moisturizer to massage your fingers and toes. With a nail cutter, cut your nails and shape them. Trimming and filing your nail regularly, removing the dirt and dead skin near the cuticles and beneath the nails, help them grow faster and stronger. Always file your nail in one direction, and buff them from bed to tip and not the other way round. If you have soft and brittle nails, avoid using nail polish as much as possible as they give your nail a yellow tint and make them weak. Go for French manicure once in a month, especially when you have weak and brittle nails. The best natural home remedy for shiny and healthy nails is to use olive oil or coconut oil. Dip a cotton ball in the oil and dab it on your nails for few seconds, followed by gentle cleansing for the soft and pink hue that you always wanted.
Nail Art Kits Biography
Creating colorful finger nails with decorative designs are now possible with the help of a nail art kit. Women can do their own design with a nail pen or can also go to a certified technician for getting a beautiful airbrushed pattern.Nail designs have evolved from single color polish to intricate patterns. Most free hand kits come with design catalogues and step-by-step tutorial DVDs for easy application.
Nail Art Pens - Fashionable Nail Colors
Women who like to do their own designs can use nail art pens. Available in different colors it is the easiest and most affordable way to maintain fashionable nails. Nail art pens are easy to use as it has a fine tip for smooth application and comes in different lacquer shades like white, black, light pink, red and many more. Teens and children can have fun creating colorful figures on their own finger nails and the pens are considered safe for kids. Most products are water-based. In case of corrections, moist cotton can be used to easily clean the area without damaging the base coat. Tecnicians recommend quick strokes when working with pens because the lacquer dries easily.
Nail Art Brushes - Stylish Strokes
Intricate and colorful nail patterns are applied using nail art brushes. Available in various shapes and sizes, each design detail requires a specific brush stroke, bristle cut and thickness. Flat nail art brushes are perfect for image outlines. It is good for large designs and for shading different areas. The long, thin bristles of striper brushes are used for small details and for long and straight strokes. The fan nail art brush is used for multiple color layers and gradual tones. It even gives a nice airbrush effect. Dotting brushes have small tips and are ideal for creating small dots and other tiny figures. It is also called the marble brush because it can create a marble-like spiral effect.Bio Sculpture Gel is a Superior product making nails beautiful, flexible and durable, without any damage.

Bio Sculpture has been the first of many. We are inventors of Color Gel, Soak Off Gel, and Gel Nail Sculptures. Bio Sculpture is also the first company to have undergone a stringent independent Clinical Research Trial and received a 5 Star safety rating.

Bio Sculpture is yet again leading the nail industry to another first; similar to hair products that specialize in customizing their client’s needs; Bio Sculpture Gel now gives manicurists the option to create different nail finishes: flexible, medium or solid (less-flexible) nails, depending on the clients’ nail plate type and lifestyle choices
I have a friend who's so embarrassed about her nail fungus that no one is allowed to see her feet. Her feet are always covered with socks, slippers, shoes or water shoes (if she's at the beach or pool).

Nail fungal infections affect about 12 percent of people living in the United States, and toenail fungus is common in people who have diabetes. Toenail fungus has an inherited tendency and commonly runs in families. Besides being cosmetically unattractive, nail fungal infections can cause nail deformity, pain or discomfort while wearing shoes and odor. And it can lead to more serious foot complications if a secondary infection develops.

If treatment is prescribed, it's important to know that due to the thickness of toenail beds topical medications aren't absorbed easily. You must be persistent with topical medications, applying them daily for up to one year, and even this may not be effective in clearing up the infection.

Oral antifungal drugs can be effective, but they may cause side effects ranging from skin rashes to liver failure. And they aren't recommended for those with liver disease, heart failure or who are taking certain medications.

Recurrent infections are possible if feet are exposed to warm and moist conditions. Remember, keep nails trimmed, free of snags, clean and dry.(By Balaseshan) Apricus Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:APRI : 2.6, -0.09) said it will obtain regulatory guidance from Health Canada for MycoVa, its topical treatment for onychomycosis or nail fungus, in a Pre-New Drug Submission meeting scheduled on July 18.

Health Canada has granted the company's request for a Pre-New Drug Submission meeting. Apricus Biosciences expects to obtain feedback from the agency regarding the suitability of its Phase 3 development program to support a New Drug Submission in Canada.

The company expects the upcoming meeting to provide valuable regulatory guidance and would enable it to determine the next steps toward its goal of approval and commercialization of MycoVa in the Canadian market.

In addition, the company is seeking guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and will be filing for guidance from the European Health Agency.

Apricus Biosciences is currently partnered with Stellar Pharmaceuticals Inc. for the commercialization and marketing of MycoVa in Canada following receipt of regulatory approval by Health Canada.

MycoVa is a topically applied formulation of terbinafine hydrochloride, a well-known medication for nail fungus, delivered with Dodecyl dodecyl 2-(N, N dimethylamino)-propionate hydrochloride, Apricus Bio's proprietary NexACT delivery technology, which enhances absorption of drugs through the skin and other barriers including the nail plate and nail bed.

The company believes MycoVa clinical trials have exhibited a significant mycological effect to eradicate the fungus and also has successfully demonstrated non-inferiority compared to Loceryl, the current topical standard of care for onychomycosis in Europe.

In addition, Apricus Biosciences believes the safety profile of topical terbinafine is significantly improved and much better tolerated than oral terbinafine, which is limited in use to some patients due to its potential for liver toxicity.

APRI is trading down 1.08% at $2.74 on Friday. The stock has been trading between $2.34 and $5.95 for the past 52 weeks. We brought this product on because of the rave reviews. The ingredients that are used are a combination of the most powerful anti fungals that also go after any secondary bacterial infections. Most cream only ever tackle one. This toenail fungus cream goes after both to kill the supply of the fungus.
Expect clear nails to start showing up in about 3 to 4 weeks. But more importantly watch the yellow, thickened nail that can also have black green under the nail, it will start to clear very shortly. As the nail grows out more and more clear nail will show up.
What Makes This Nail Fungus Cream Different?
It tackles both the fungal and bacterial issues with toenail infections. It uses emu oil to help soak in around and under the nail where fungus hides. It uses 3 powerful anti septic agents that are known to destroy fungus and bacteria. The two often go hand in had yet most creams on the market only treat one. This cream is ph balanced to correct the ph of the toenail to help prevent the growth of more or future fungus. (Most creams do not do this - most creams are ph wrong and have a ph that actually encourage the growth of fungus)
Nail Art Brushes Biography

Bio Sculpture Gel is a Superior product making nails beautiful, flexible and durable, without any damage.

Bio Sculpture has been the first of many. We are inventors of Color Gel, Soak Off Gel, and Gel Nail Sculptures. Bio Sculpture is also the first company to have undergone a stringent independent Clinical Research Trial and received a 5 Star safety rating.

Bio Sculpture is yet again leading the nail industry to another first; similar to hair products that specialize in customizing their client’s needs; Bio Sculpture Gel now gives manicurists the option to create different nail finishes: flexible, medium or solid (less-flexible) nails, depending on the clients’ nail plate type and lifestyle choices.Nail art brushes comes in 15 different interesting pieces and each set can be further divided into 7 parts. You can buy these brushes individually too depending on what you like to do. These brushes are:

It is the most versatile and common brush. It is used for creating intricate designs. It also helps in creating different strokes patterns. These brushes also help in making 3d nail art using acrylic powder and monomer.

This brush helps in creating stripes (long lines), striping stroke patterns and you can also use them to make animal patterns such as zebra or tiger prints. You get straight lines with these brushes with ease. Your set may contain 3 of these brushes. There are numerous styles and many sizes of nail art brushes for you to select from. Always ensure that they are cleaned thoroughly prior to using them. Also, clean them after every use - proper care will effectively extend brush's life span.

Although there are standard brushes available, there are also angled brushes and mine shaped brushes, for more intricate nail art work. If you are wanting patterns that can be identified from a distance, the angled type is probably the best option to use. You want to make sure that when you purchase one, it is of high quality as you don't want to have to keep replacing cheap products. Double-sided items are best.

If you are purchasing online, try to purchase one of the more popular shapes. You need to be able to design your nails as close as you can to the cuticle. Make sure the length and width of the product is stated on the website so you know exactly how big or small the brush is.

With the correct type of nail art brush, you can really create some fantastic artistic designs. You can make designs like odd shapes, hearts, flowers, leaves, even small animals. You could also add other decorations, like gemstones, etc. A brush should be approximately 2mm in diameter for intricate work like this. When you are considering the purchase of your nail art brush, always take into consideration the type of art you are wanting to create.
How do you go about creating artistic nails?
1. Look for a brush that is fine, so that your artwork can be more intricate. Ensure that you purchase a nail art brush that is compatible with acrylic paints. Using this sort of paint is crucial for your nail designs. These paints will typically be available in fifteen to thirty millilitre tubes, for easy application.

2.You should have your supplies before you learn how to effectively use your nail art brush. Instead of regular nail polish, make sure you have your acrylic paints as well. Your acrylic paints are going to be much easier to apply. It is okay to use a nail polish to form a base for your art, but don't use it for the design itself. Buy decorations if you plan to use other items like glitter or rhinestones.

3. Some designs look better using several colors so collect various colors before you start. Having a sealer product for a top coat is something else you should purchase. This clear coat will be applied when everything else has dried off. However these days it is possible to purchase many different top coat products, including some with glitter, so experiment with as many as you like.

You won't become the next most successful nail designer but you will know the basics. The old saying "practise makes perfect" is very applicable here, as is time and dedication. Once you are used to the art, you will be able to create many beautiful and artistic designs

Nail Extensions...

Nail extensions are the most commonly booked appointments. There are several types of nail extension services that we can provide for you in order for you to have the most unique and tailor-made service

There are genuinely three types of nail extension products that are most commonly offered to our clients. Theses are liquid and powder, gel and fibre. It is important to understand that all of these products derive from the acrylic family; the only difference between the three systems is the way that products cure

Types Of Extensions: Liquid & Powder…

Liquid and powder is the most popular nail enhancement system used in our salon. This product cures all ‘get harder’ by a natural process of the oxygen evaporating when the liquid and powder blends. This process takes up to 48 hours to get to the most durable state. You will find that your nails are incredibly strong and durable. Liquid and powder can be used to sculpture or build up onto the natural nail and correct irregular nail shapes, e.g. if your nail grows upwards it is possible to correct the nail shape by re-balancing with liquid and powder.

Liquid and powder is effective for the use of ‘nail bitters’ due to the ability to form nail shape, hardness, pliability and natural nail colour. Liquid and powder is most commonly known as acrylic nail extensions. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the use of acrylic nail enhancements, of which we would like to address. You may or not recall a recent documentary about ‘nail extensions’ featured on television. Watchdog featured a salon in the south-east region who provided acrylic nail extensions to a client. They apparently used a liquid and powder acrylic containing the controversial MMA product. MMA is an extremely dangerous, hard and controversial substance. MMA is most commonly used in the dental practice. It has also been used in the product of bullet proof glass and artificial limbs. This product has been banned in most states in America due to problems associated with MMA, however, this is used in nail salons in the UK.

At That Nail & Beauty Place we actively oppose to the use of MMA as this can damage the natural nail and can also possibly damage your health. You can protect yourself by using a reputable salon who holds credentials, e.g. NVQ qualifications etc, and by looking out for the following signs:

Yellowing of the nails.

Strong smelling odour emanating from the salon.

Masks being worn by nail technicians.

Electric, metal nail files being used on the natural nail.

Poor sanitation.

Cheaply priced nail enhancements.

No insurance certification displayed.

No qualifications displayed in the salon

Liquid and powder, when used by professionals, is the most perfect way to extend and protect the natural nail, providing that you listen to the advice of the technician when it comes to removal of the artificial nails. Liquid and powder is removed by submerging your nails in pure acetone for approximately 25 – 30 minutes. The product breaks down and goes into a gel-like formula and can be easily wiped away from the natural nail. We advise that you have a re-hydrating manicure after a ‘soak-off’ to return the natural nails to the best possible condition.

Usually liquid and powder extensions take approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours to complete. The average cost is £30 - £35.

Types Of Extensions: Gel...

UV gel is a product derived from the acrylic family. UV gel is an acrylic that cures or ‘gets harder’ when using an ultraviolet to accelerate this procedure. The UV lamp is a catalyst which makes the oxygen evaporate; thus making the gel hard and durable. UV gel has a high-gloss shine finish which is a tell tale sign. There are two types of gel that you can be used; bio gel and normal gel. Bio gel when coming to removal needs to be soaked off in acetone. Normal gel has to be manually filed off in order to return to the natural nail. This is an area of controversy – to soak or to file. Our personal recommendation is to use a bio gel. Soaking in acetone can dehydrate nails, but as long as a re-hydrating manicure is performed, damage is minimal. On the other hand, a non-bio gel cannot be removed by any other means than ‘filing off’. ‘Filing off’ poses a danger of filing onto the natural nail plate and damaging the nail.

At That Nail & Beauty Place we use a bio gel for clients wishing to have gel nail enhancements, and all of our technicians are trained in this procedure. The product again is the world renowned Creative bio sculpture gel, which is ‘low-odour’ and limits possible damage by being able to be soaked off in acetone.

Gel nail enhancements can be particularly useful to clients who are subjected to having their hands in water regularly, e.g. hair dressers, as the process ‘shrink raps’ to the natural nail making it water tight, making the product more durable. The high-gloss, wet-look finish is particularly appealing to clients wishing to show-off their nails, however, due to experience, the clients nails have to be in a reasonable condition to begin with as most gel products are quite transparent and can not disguise contra-indication/abnormalities on the nail plate.

Gel can be sculptured or built up for strength on nail extensions, but it is not as pliable as liquid and powder in our opinion. Gel is a premix formula that is painted onto the nail. The gel is quite sticky, but on application, levels by itself. This makes tress areas and nail shapes difficult to build up. Gel enhancements often take 1 – 2 hours to create due to the product having to be set by UV lamp. The cost is usually around £35 - £45 to be applied.Types Of Extensions: Fibre...

‘Fibre’ or ‘Fibreglass enhancements’ can be used to extend or add strength to natural nails. The fibre system also derives from the acrylic family. The basic products used are a fibre - usually silk, cotton or nylon and a resin. The resin is set or accelerated using a chemical spray. This is how the fibre enhancement is ‘cured’ – accelerator spray speeds-up and heats the resin, thus making the fibre product hard and durable.

Fibre enhancements can be tricky and can take a relatively long time to produce. Most nail professionals will swear by fibre enhancements as a ‘repair tool’, but not as a product used to extend nails. This is due to the product being the most difficult to build up the stress areas, and can be the thinnest nail enhancement system. We discourage nail extensions with fibre, as in our opinion, the durability and the strength of nail extensions using fibre can be problematic.

Clients who have naturally ‘nice’ nails who need protection from everyday wear-and-tear, and who desire a thin and natural look to their nails, are often very satisfied with fibre nail enhancements.

Fibre is more commonly used as a repair system for natural nails, e.g. if you broke or snagged your natural nail, it is possible to repair like magic. No more catching in your hair or pulling on your clothing. You can often keep the length (depending on the break) and protect the nail you have without loosing the length of your natural nail.

Resin tends to be quite runny, and if the application is not accurate, it can spill or run onto the skin surrounding the nail. This can make the product ‘lift’. If resin spills onto the skin surrounding the nail, it can cause an allergy. The smell of the resin and ‘activator’ can be quite offensive to clients; therefore this is best practiced in well-ventilated areas.

Fibre extensions can be removed by soaking off using pure acetone which usually takes approximately 10 – 15 minutes to dissolve. An alternative to this is to manually file the fibre enhancements off of the nail.

Star Nails Biography

I've tried this place three times now and it's only ever 'eh'... I never feel like they do that great of a job and rush you in and out. Now, I don't want to hang around for hours, I have things to do but most places include a hand massage w/your mani.
Next time, stay on 3A into Weymouth and stop at either Indulgent or Elegant nails. They both do a much better job and pedi's include hot stone leg massage at the same price as Star NailsI can walk to this place from my house. I have been here a handful of times over the years, but I think that service and cleanliness has declined over the past 2 years. The latest time I was there will be my last. Blech.

Manis/pedis aren't relaxing, and aren't anything special. Not a big variety of in-season colors, and many of the bottles they have are old and crusty and look like came from the dollar bins of an asian dollar store. They should invest in new, updated colors. Also, it's such a hassle to use a credit card here, I have avoided coming here at times just to avoid the stress of this. Sometimes they take credit cards, no problem, and other times they grill me about it endlessly. The level of ability to understand and speak basic English has also declined at this place.

I find this place to be less sanitary than other places. The manicure stations are not clean. For instance, at any given moment when getting a mani, someone's used fake nails are always sitting to the side of the counter I am using. The hand rests are also mostly stained. Gross. Also, when getting spa pedi's done, I have never seen them wipe down the spa tubs with anything other than dirty, used rags. Gross. More times than not, when I am in there, there is often 1 or 2 dogs sitting on a spa chair. Gross. Unsanitary. I could deal with all other issues except the sanitation issue.

Cheap manis and pedis, but you get what you pay for. And you may even get more than you paid for, in the form of a fungus or infection.I came in today for an acrylic fill with gel polish. The technician used a huge electric filer to file my gels off, and when I pulled my hand away from the heat/pain a few times, she acted like it was normal and explained that she put the fan on to cool my hands down (to her credit she did press down on my nails with her fingers to alleviate the pain, but I've had plenty of acrylic fills and I KNOW that it doesn't have to hurt when you remove the polish. Overall, though, I was pretty happy with the quality of the fill.

The polish job is acceptable, but considering that during the manicure it looked like she was going to great lengths to retouch everything she did (always grabbing the file again, making sure nothing got under the polish, etc.), I'm surprised that the polish job looks just okay. I was expecting a little better.

I'm not disappointed, but I'm definitely not impressed! We'll see how long the polish lasts-- if it makes it a full two weeks (not holding my breath) I'll give this place another shot!

One good thing I should mention: My nails were looking pretty shabby and I asked the tech if she thought I needed a new set, and she looked at them and said "No, you're okay. I am always honest, I won't tell you to get a new set unless I think you really need one!" I did appreciate that!first of all, i came in without an appointment. when i went in there were three techs, three people being serviced, and two people waiting. i told them what i wanted and they said fine and told me to wait. i waited with the other 2 women. they eventually put me in a pedi chair and left me to soak while the techs finished. by the time they finished, 15 minutes had passed and i was completely waterlogged. so anyway, when a tech is available for me, three customers come in and say they have a 430 appointment for pedi/mani (keep in mind, the three techs just started on me and the two other women, and it was 430). so, my tech, whose name i dont know, did my mani and pedi in about 10 minutes. i am not exagurrating. she had no trouble hardly giving me any attention at all just so she could hurry up and get done with me. i finished WAY before the other 2 women who were waiting when i got there. how ridiculous. i will not be back. needless to say, the paint job sucks, it's already chipped, and she didn't remove any cuticle. she also didn't paint all the way down the nail so it looks like i have stubby nails.
Creative Nail Design Biography

I got a Shellac mani at my local spa, and liked it so much that I splurged and bought the whole set up to use at home. I bought a 36 watt UV lamp from eBay, and the polishes on Amazon. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of it, but eventually it became pretty easy. Yes it is kind of expensive to purchase everything up front, but it will pay for itself in just a few manicures. I just did my very first french mani and I'm impressed how well it turned out. No one can tell me why it's bad to use regular polish with Shellac but I did with the french mani. I had some white polish (from Hot Topic that I got for free) so I painted two thin coats on the tips of my bare nails. Followed that with an old makeup brush (it was a MAC short shader brush) dipped in acetone and very carefully made the "smile lines". This was the hardest part to me!! Once that was done, I used the base coat then top coat, wiped with alcohol on a cotton ball and DONE! I freaking love how it turned out! :)
EDIT: I uploaded a picture of my nails, I'm the one with the left hand, short nails, and wedding rings with dark countertop underneath.I have a home salon based in Backwell just 15 minutes outside of Bristol. I provide a relaxing service in a comfortable atmosphere with no rush and plenty of time for exactly the treatment you desire. And if you’re too busy to get away from home I also offer a mobile service. No need to find a babysitter or leave the house. You can even make a night of it with a few friends. For this I cover most of Bristol and the surrounding areas, including Yatton, Leigh Woods, Flax Bourton, Clevedon, Congresbury, Wrington, Chew Magna, Dundry, Whitchurch, Bishopsworth, Redland, Pill, Bedminster, Long Ashton, Backwell, Failand, Nailsea, Tickenham, Portishead, Cheddar, Axbridge, Clifton, Knowle and Southville. Other areas covered too - please phone if your area is not mentioned here.

I begin every appointment with a full consultation. From this I can prescribe a customised treatment especially for you. Whether that be to suit your skin condition, nail type or custom blending a nail colour to the exact shade you require.

I offer a range of manicures and pedicures for your every need. From a file and polish to the luxurious Creative Spa Manicure and Pedicures all finished with a wide range of CND Colour and Effects Nail Colours or Minx Nail Armour.

For Enhanced Nails I use Bio Sculpture Gel or Creative Nail Designs Brisa UV Gel. After your initial consultation we can discuss what you would like and find the right system to suit your nail type and needs.

I’m fully insured with Associated Beauty Therapists. All files and implements are disinfected after each treatment and no electric files or lasting damage to the natural nail is needed for any of the systems I use.

I believe that by continuously updating my skills I can offer the most up to date and fashion forward treatments that I can and keep at the forefront of any new developments within the Nail Industry.I got a CND Shellac manicure for my wedding this past August, and it was a wonderful experience. I typically polish my own nails, and have only had a professional manicure maybe twice in my life, so I wanted something special and lasting for my wedding day and thoughout my honeymoon. I paid about $32 for this before tip, and it stayed shiny and lasted until the week after my wedding! Definitely worth the money for a special occasion, if not for everyday.
I got married on a Saturday and got this manicure on the Wednesday before my wedding in a light soft pink color, and it stayed very shiny and didn't start chipping until I was on a plane the following week of my wedding coming home from my honeymoon! It lasted through the wedding frenzy, packing, traveling, suitcase shuffling, swimming in the pool and ocean and I peeled it off myself on the plane from boredom! I should have had it professionally removed, because peeling it off myself absolutely ruined my nails, but I would definitely try again for another special occasion or vacation!
Acrylic Nail Supplies Biography

Acrylic nails are used to artificially enhance the appearance of natural fingernails. The term "acrylic nail" covers a range of product types, including press-on nails, nail tips, and sculpted nails. The first press-on acrylic nails were developed in the early 1970s; these were nail-shaped pieces of plastic that were glued on over natural nails. Early press-ons did not look natural and did nothing to strengthen real nails. Nonetheless, versions of this product could still be found on the market nearly 30 years later. Modern technology has advanced to allow development of more natural-looking nail enhancements which bond to the real nail. Early attempts at making these enhancements used the same plastic resin employed by the dental industry to make false teeth. This type of resin, known as an acrylic, is created by mixing a liquid and powder together to form a thick paste. The salon technician smooths the paste into place over the natural nail and allows it to dry. The resin then hardens to form a durable finish that is filed into the desired shape. Dental acrylic is no longer used because it caused allergic reactions in many people, but improvements in resin chemistry have essentially eliminated that problem. Today, acrylic chemistry is used to make a variety of nail enhancements, including nail tips, wraps, and sculpted nails. This article will focus on how sculpted acrylic nails are made.

Raw Materials
Monomer liquid
Artificial nail enhancements are made of acrylic plastic. Acrylic is the generic name given to the type of plastic made from a chemical called methacrylate. There are many types of acrylic resins based on different types of methacrylate molecules, but their chemistry is similar. The acrylic used in sculpted nails is formed by the reaction of a monomer liquid with a polymer powder. The monomers ("mono" meaning "one") contained in the liquid are microscopic chemical units which react together when mixed with chemicals in the powder. The monomers combine with one another in a head to tail fashion to form long fibers. These long chains of connected monomers are called polymers ("poly" meaning "many").

Polymer powder
A powdered polymer is then blended with the liquid to adjust the consistency of the plastic. The powdered polymer typically used in acrylics is polyethylmethylmethacrylate (PMMA). PMMA yields a very hard inflexible plastic, but it may be blended with softer polymers to improve its flexibility. When the polymer powder and monomer liquid are mixed, the polymer fibers react in a process known as crosslinking, forming a rigid netlike structure. The polymer strands will eventually dry to form a hard resin that can be made to resemble a fingernail.

Resin modifiers
Other ingredients are added to the monomer liquid and the polymer powder to control the properties of the resin. Crosslinking agents are used to hook the polymer chains together to make the plastic more rigid. The most common is ethylene glycol dimethacrylate. The polymer powder also carries an initiator, which starts the reaction that links the monomers together. A common initiator is benzoyl peroxide (BP), the same ingredient used in acne creams. When the liquid and powder are mixed together and applied to the client's fingers, the BP molecule is capable of exciting or energizing a monomer. Once energized, the monomers join together to form a polymer. Catalysts are also added to the formula to control the speed by which the initiator activates the reactions. A relatively small amount of catalyst is required to do the job, typically about only 1% of the monomer. Chemical inhibitors are added to the liquid monomer blend to prevent the monomers from reacting together prematurely, which turns the liquid into an unusable gel. Inhibitors help prolong the shelf life of the monomer solution. Plasticizers are used to improve resin performance. These liquids help lubricate the polymer chains so they are better able to resist breaking caused by stress.

Misceilaneous ingredients
A variety of ingredients are added to complete the resin. Dyes and pigments may be included to alter the resin's appearance. For example, titanium dioxide, a pigment commonly used in house paint, is used to whiten the nail and create a more natural appearance. It is also used to create special color effects like the white nail tips used in French manicures. Other colorants are added to give the polymer a pinkish or bluish color cast; these shades give a pleasing color to the nail bed. Flow agents are added to help control how polish spreads on the surface of the resin. Finally, color stabilizers are used to prevent yellowing. These materials absorb ultraviolet light that can cause discoloration of the resins.

Design
Every company that produces acrylic nail kits uses the same basic chemistry. However, each has designed its own formula with its distinct advantages and disadvantages. The real design work in creating acrylic nails is done by the nail technician. Each set of sculpted nails has its own idiosyncrasies which must be taken into account when designing the acrylic nails. In this sense, the technician designs the shape of the nail based on the requirements of the client.

The Manufacturing Process
Sculpted acrylic nails are not manufactured on an assembly line by a machine. Instead, as the name implies, they are "sculpted" by a nail technician. Each handcrafted nail is formed one at a time using a process which consists of the following steps: cleansing, priming, mixing, sculpting, and finishing.

Cleansing the nail
1 Before the new nail can be sculpted, the natural nail must be properly prepared. A nail bed cleanser is used to thoroughly clean the surface of the nail. These cleansers are typically solvents such as isopropyl alcohol, which dissolve oils and grease from the surface of the nail. They will also remove bacteria from the area to help reduce the chance of infection. Care must be used when applying these solvents because they may dry out the skin surrounding the cuticle. This occurs because the solvents also remove the skin's own natural moisturizing oils.
Priming the nail
2 After the nail bed has been cleansed, a primer is applied to the nail bed to make sure the acrylic will adhere properly. Primers are available in two types, non-etching and etching. The non-etching type works like double-sided tape; one side of the primer is very good at sticking to the natural nail, and the other end is equally attracted to the acrylic polymers used in the artificial nail. The etching type of primers are acids, such as methacrylic acid, which actually dissolve a thin layer of the nail itself. This etching process allows the acrylic to adhere to the nail better. The etching primers are more commonly used than non-etching. There is some debate regarding the proper use of etching primers; some chemists argue that the primer should dry thoroughly before applying the acrylic. Others believe that the acrylic should be applied while the primer is still wet to pull the acrylic deeper into the nail and anchor it more firmly.
Gel Nail Polish Biography
Bio Sculpture Nail Polish is a fast drying, stable and durable. Our polishes contain double density fluorinated colour pigment to match our Colour Gels and will never need more than two coats. Not wearing Bio Sculpture Gel on your nails? Brighten up your natural nails with Bio Sculpture nail polish. You can use the nail polish as a temporary colour change over your existing colour gels, until you desire to return to your original gel colour. Bio Sculpture nail polishes are available in all the colours of our colour gels. All nail polishes are toluene free, DBP and formaldehyde free.In the last few months I have got in to getting my nails done. I have never paid for manicures before and I never thought they were worth the money, however I had found my nails were getting weaker and the effort of polishing my nails most evenings was starting to do my head in (i find chipped nails at work, and in general, are gross and tacky) so I decided to look at other options.

First I tried gel nail extensions and acrylics... (yuck!) the only way I found them to be bearable was to cover them up with polish! Then I tried Shellac a couple of times - I had colours Rubble and Iced Cappuccino as pictured below:The application for Shellac is pretty quick - using a normal nail varnish brush, which i think it is easier for the nail technician. However, I found this only lasted 1 - 2 weeks and one application already had problems with the polish not being properly stuck down as I walked out! This started to really frustrate me - where was this 3 week manicure that people talked about?Bio Sculpture Gel was created and founded in 1988 by Elmien Scholtz (then Greeff) after many years of searching for the ideal nail system. “Bio Sculpture started due to a need in the nail industry.” says Elmien, ”After finishing my CIDESCO training in Stellenbosch, South Africa, I was a little disappointed that I, as a nail technician, had nothing more to offer my clients than heavy acrylics to lengthen and strengthen nails and chipping nail polish for colour.” Bio Sculpture Clear Gel, still the crown product in the range, was the first gel ever created. Training of nail technicians and distribution to salons in South Africa started soon after its creation.

By 1992 Bio Sculpture Gel had 4 Colour Gels to add to the range. This was also when Bio Sculpture was first introduced to the international market and was export to Australia.

Since then several other treatment gels have been developed and introduced to the market, for example S-Gel, Free Edge Gel and UV Top Coat Gel. The Colour Gel ranges now boast more than 150 non-chip colour gels.

Elmien Scholtz who is still actively involved with Bio Sculpture Gel continues to research and develop Bio Sculpture’s products and brand on a daily basis.Bio Sculpture’s core product is Nail Gel: Clear Base Gels, Strengthening Treatment Gels and a range of Colour Gels.

Clear Base Gels are applied directly onto the natural nails to give stability (less breakage) with the advantage of flexibility.
Strengthening Treatment Gels are used to either extend short nails or build strong natural nails.
Colour Gels are used as a “permanent nail polish”APPLICATION: I opted for "Berry Medley," a nice bright fuchsia. The application was basically the same as a regular manicure: base gel, colour gel and top coat, the only difference was that each step had to cure under the UV light. Unlike the application of the gel nail, there was no filing of the nail needed.

RESULT: My nails looked amazing! They were not Snooki chunky and looked really natural. The colour was bright and shiny and it went almost three weeks without a single chip. I even experimented by painting over my gel with regular nail polishes (see picture) and the gel is so resilient that the polish or the acetone didn't hurt it a bit. To match your gel exactly, you can purchase its nail polish twin by Bio Sculpture. Towards week three, I did notice some bubbling but by that time my nails had grown considerably and it was time for removal anyways.

REMOVAL: Bio Gel is a soak-off product (if you do this, make sure your salon knows the difference between the different types of gel products). First, the gel was filed a tiny little bit without the file actually touching the nail itself. Then individual nails were soaked for 10 minutes in Bio Sculpture Gel Remover to break down the bonding of the gel to the nail. The gel then easily peels off your nail and voilà! Easy.

COST: My application cost $55 at my salon here in Vancouver (Bling Nails & Beauty Lounge). The removal is $10 if added on top of a regular manicure.
3d Nails Biography
Here’s the first manicure using polishes from the new BioSculpture Rock and Crystal nail collection. It’s called Art Nouveau because these two colours, Amethyst Moonstone and Totally Topaz, when put together remind us of the paintings of Alphonse Mucha. Though for the nails, rather than trying to recreate the artworks precisely we did a more modern (and easier!) 3D nail design. You can find a quick how-to at the end of this article or learn each of the techniques (creating patterns with striping tape & applying studs) in detail from our bookAs for the polishes, if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know we’re big fans of BioSculpture. It’s rare to find a brand that ticks all the boxes – great formula, great brush, beautiful color palette and easy to work with. It’s particularly good for striping tape nail art because it dries fast and covers your nails evenly resulting in a perfectly smooth surface. Part of the the secret of these polishes perfect formula must be that they are created by nail professionals for nail professionals. That’s also their only pitfall, at the moment these polishes are only available at BioSculpture nail salons. If you can get a hold on some BioSculpture polishes, I highly recommend them, they’ll soon become your favorites too. With the awards season here, I couldn’t resist creating a manicure that pays homage to the opulence of the red carpet.. Red carpet style is all about sophistication and balance (or should be!). The designer frocks are so fabulous that often just one piece of statement jewellery is more than enough to trasnform evening look into a red carpet worthy ensemble.

When choosing the colours for this manicure, naturally I opted for red as the the main colour. To take the red carpet nails look further than just our usual red nails, I added complimentary dark cherry, nude and black colours. I arranged them so that the nude becomes an accent nail and other colours help focus attention to it. The gold embellishment on the nude accent nail represents the statement jewellery.3D nails are something I’d never imagined I’d see on my nails. Not only because I prefer classic glossy manicures but also because I simply have no time for intricate nail art extravaganzas. However, after interviewing Sammy (The Nailasaurus) and seeing her amazing 3D nail art I was inspired to try it too. There are different types of 3D nail designs for instance, studs, rhinestones, plastic flowers or bows. For my 3D nails I wanted to keep it all simple yet make a statement so I opted for black rhinestones. From there the idea for the design emerged – check mate nails!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day for the 3D details I did cut-out heart. For other occasions the heart can be replaced with a white stripe running along the nail outlined with rhinestones. And, it was quite easy to do!Grab a copy of our 30 Easy Nail Art Designs & Tutorials e-book! The book includes 30 step by step pictorial tutorials with detailed written instructions, product breakdowns and more. Fake Nails Biography

Acrylic nails aren't likely to harm your natural nails. It's important to be cautious when using acrylic nails, however.

Sometimes a gap develops between the acrylic nail and the natural nail. If the acrylic nail is bumped or jarred, it can separate from the natural nail. This gap provides a moist, warm environment in which a nail infection can flourish. A nail infection might also occur if acrylic nails are too long or too rigid, or the nails are applied with unsanitary tools. If you develop a nail infection, your natural nail might become thick or ragged and appear discolored.

It's also possible to have an allergic reaction to components of acrylic nails or the adhesives used to apply them. This can result in redness, swelling and pain around the nail.

If you choose to have acrylic nails applied in a salon, take steps to minimize the risks:

Stick to salons that display a current state license, and work only with technicians also licensed by the state board.
Be wary if you notice fumes. A strong odor could be a sign that the salon is poorly ventilated.
Make sure your nail technician properly sterilizes all tools used during your treatment and washes his or her hands between customers.
Soak your nails in a fresh bowl of soapy water before treatment begins.
Don't allow your cuticles to be pushed back or trimmed. This can increase the risk of a nail infection.
Don't allow the surface of your natural nails to be filed or roughened before the acrylic nails are applied. This weakens your natural nails.
Request a new nail file — or consider bringing your own, since nail files can't be sterilized.
If you opt to apply acrylic nails at home, follow the safety precautions printed on the package. Work in a well-ventilated area, and be careful to protect the skin around your nails from the chemicals used to apply acrylic nails.

If you suspect a nail infection or have redness, swelling or pain around a nail, consult a dermatologist for an evaluation. However, in the last few months, without the motivation of ‘the wedding’ and being under quite a bit of stress, I started biting again. Oh the shame.

Anyway, as some of you may recall, I had a glamourous wedding industry soiree to attend a couple of weeks ago which I was rather nervous about. I had the dress, and my hair and make up plan sorted {ish}. But when I tried on my outfit a couple of days before and did a few poses in the mirror with my imaginary champagne glass {you all do it too don’t you?} I gasped at my stumpy bitten nails. They just wouldn’t do. But as I only had 2 days till the soiree the only way to miraculously go from bitten to beautiful was to go artificial.

In hindsight, I think bitten nails would’ve have been a fair better option than what I am left with. As I type this post, I’m looking down at dried out, paper thin, ridged, broken, sore nails.

Let me tell you the story of the worst beauty treatment of my life…

I saw that the local high street salon had a sign for ‘gel nails’ I popped my head in to ask for more info and to see if they could squeeze me in. The receptionist ushered me into the seat in front of their specialist nail therapist {who didn’t speak much English at all}, she grabbed my hands and asked what I wanted. I said ‘gel nails’ and before I knew it she had turned on this horrific buffing machine and was using what looked like a dentist’s tool to scrape the top layer of my own nails off!!!

There was a moment when I thought, shall I run? But then I remembered the soiree…and thought how lovely it’d be to have pretty nailsThere was no sanitizing of hands or products, I noticed the therapist had rough hands and uncared for nails herself ~ which is never a good sign. She didn’t soak my hands in hot water or gently push back my cuticles but gave them a quick, harsh poke with an orange stick. I was shocked at how roughly she handled my hands and fingers. When I think of that buffing machine it makes me shudder ~ it made such an awful sound when it was cutting through my poor nails and the therapist rushed through each nail like it was a race.

I later realised that it really was a race to fit as many people as possible because as my treatment was coming to an end and the therapist was finishing my 2nd coat of polish, another lady came in and asked if she could have her nails done so I was swiftly instructed to move to the corner of the table {sans a topcoat} to dry my nails in the little drying machine while the therapist grabbed the other lady’s hands and got to work. Talk about a conveyor belt!

Also, the therapist took a call. Yes that’s right, as she was doing my nails, she answered her mobile and started chatting away for 10 minutes.

But worst of all…she didn’t actually use gel {at the time I was wondering why the process was so different to how Chantal, my lovely therapist, who did my gel nails in the run up to my wedding did them}. It was so different because she was actually applying ACRYLIC NAILS! If I had known they were acrylic I would have steered clear.

I wanted to scream at the unprofessionalism of it all and although the finished product looked OK, the service was appalling and ‘after care’ was not in their vocabularly…
Nail Art Tools Biography
Creating colorful finger nails with decorative designs are now possible with the help of a nail art kit. Women can do their own design with a nail pen or can also go to a certified technician for getting a beautiful airbrushed pattern.Nail designs have evolved from single color polish to intricate patterns.
It is also called the marble brush because it can create a marble-like spiral effect. Some of the important points to regard in applying foundation include testing the makeup first along the jawline and determining if the color and texture blend well onto one’s natural skin tone. Although the amount of coverage is basically more of a personal preference, it is recommended that cream or the longwearing kinds be applied for heavier coverage, while tinted moisturizers or lotions may be used for lighter application. The other basic guidelines in applying foundation effectively involve blotting oily surfaces with a tissue and then applying a light powder dusting in it. The foundation also needs to be applied ten minutes after the moisturizer has been used to prevent the foundation from coming off in just a few hours.
Foundation Skin - Right Color Selection Tips
Picking the right type of makeup is the first step in choosing the complementary color that truly matches one’s foundation skin tone. Usually, the mineral types are opted because it tends to harmonize all kinds of skin tones. This step is then followed by selecting the right shade level, which basically determines how dark or light the makeup coverage has to be. Finally, identifying the best base color also has to be done to set the right tone of the makeup. Typically, base colors could come as beige, tan, ivory, or pale which could vary according to certain line colors. To be more exact, the person may hold his or her arm up to compare with the color and ask whether the shade matches one’s natural foundation skin tone.
Opi Nail Polish Biography

George Schaeffer has built OPI Products Inc., the world’s leading Professional Nail Care company, through an acute business sense and an extraordinary commitment to the Professional Beauty Industry and its needs. But he has actually built even more.

George Schaeffer has built the American Dream.

Schaeffer immigrated to the United States from Hungary with his family in 1956. After receiving his college degree from City College of New York, Schaeffer began his career in the family garment manufacturing business in NYC.

With an enormous appreciation for America and a dream of an even better lifestyle, Schaeffer heeded the famous words, “Go west, young man,” and moved his family to California in 1981.

A Star Is Born
In Los Angeles, Schaeffer started on the path to what would make him a legend in the Beauty Industry. The path started in the most unlikely of places – a dental supply business that Schaeffer purchased called Odontorium Products Inc. Schaeffer soon realized that the acrylic “porcelains” used to make dentures were similar to and, in fact, even better than the materials used by Nail Professionals for crafting acrylic nails. Seizing upon the opportunity, Schaeffer applied his knowledge of Dental Technology to the Nail Industry to formulate superior products for Nail Technicians.
Partnering with a chemist, Schaeffer developed what has fondly become known as the “rubber band special,” an acrylic system based on the dental formulas but developed specifically for nails (the bottles were held together with a rubber band). Schaeffer peddled the “rubber band special” door-to-door to nail salons in Los Angeles. Once they tried it, Nail Technicians clamored for more of this state-of-the-art system.

Keeping the initials of the dental supply company, Schaeffer started OPI Products Inc. in 1981 in a few square feet of office space in Hollywood, California. But it wasn’t long before Schaeffer began to miss the dynamics of the fashion industry and the thrill of working with colors; as a result, OPI entered the world of color in 1989 and grew to produce the world’s best-loved professional Nail Lacquers.
The Colors of Success
OPI truly revolutionized the world of nail color with its Nail Lacquers. With two extraordinary Collections each year, each themed around a specific geographic location and filled with 12 of that season’s most fashion-forward shades, OPI brought the glamour back to nails, transforming them into an integral part of the style picture.
With Lacquer names so clever that customers can’t stop talking about them, the company turned the idea of names like “Pink #2” and “Bright Red #1” into names like “Coney Island Cotton Candy” and “I’m Not Really a Waitress.” And with a Patented Lacquer Bottle, Ergonomic Cap, and ProWide® Brush designed for the ultimate in application, OPI has combined the world’s most stunning colors with the highest quality Nail Lacquers imaginable. Preferred by Professionals and favored by red-carpet celebrities, OPI Nail Lacquer is available in 200+ shades – and has generated a global Culture of Color.

A World of Opportunity
Under Schaeffer’s guidance, OPI has grown since 1981 by continuing to keep Nail Professionals and their clients on the forefront of innovation with an entire range of state-of-the-art quality products for hands, feet, and nails.

OPI has been granted more than 30 Patents for its innovative product ideas.

The worldwide leader in Professional Nail Care, OPI is distributed in over 100 countries on six continents around the world – adding up to Schaeffer traveling more than 100,000 miles each year, meeting with Nail Professionals, listening to their needs, and then spearheading product development to answer those needs.

And back at home, the company has grown from that tiny two-room office in 1981 to a corporate headquarters of multiple buildings on over 7 acres of land in Hollywood.

Giving Something Back
Always a believer in giving something back in return for the good fortune that he enjoys, Schaeffer founded the Schaeffer Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization created to help those in need. The Foundation has donated millions of dollars to charities worldwide, most notably the American Heart Association, the Leukemia Research Foundation, the American Red Cross, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, Gilda’s Club Worldwide, Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation, Project HOPE International, Oceana, City of Hope, the National Kidney Foundation, and Breast Cancer awareness.
OPI regards its employees as family, and, as a result, awards computers and college scholarships to children of qualifying OPI employees.

Supporting the Professional Beauty Industry
Schaeffer is an active, influential force in the Professional Beauty Industry, continuing to fight the diversion of Professional Beauty Products and support Beauty Professionals. As a founding member and Chairman of the Nail Manufacturers Council, his mission is to advance the Professional Nail Care Industry in legislative and regulatory matters. He personally maintains a vital connection with those at every level of the industry from Nail Techs to Distributors and is committed to furthering the education of Beauty Professionals. Schaeffer also devotes a great deal of his time to working on industry-related issues such as sanitization, health, and product safety.

Schaeffer is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Beauty Association and a founding member of the Professional Beauty Federation. He is a Board Member of the Manufacturers Leadership Council of the Professional Beauty Association, and a past member of its Governing Council. In addition, he is on the Board of Directors of the Personal Care Products Council (formerly the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association), and is a Board Member of NABE (North American Beauty Events). Schaeffer was also elected a Director of the International Nail Industry Federation of Japan.

Always a New Dream
When asked what’s next, Schaeffer smiles. With the continuing evolution of technology in the Professional Beauty Industry, certainly the newest, cutting-edge products from OPI are only an innovation away. And with a mind for business and a heart for challenge, George Schaeffer knows that his next success story is just around the corner.
Schaeffer resides in Beverly Hills, California, and is the father of two – Robbie and Nicole – who are both learning the beauty business firsthand.

Get your copy of the 30 Easy Nail Art Designs e-book now by clicking the button below and give your nails the manicure that they deserveFor highly detailed and unique nail art, it's worth the hour-long trip from midtown to this one-of-a kind spa and salon. Since 2002, owner Edward Malina and his team have been providing beauty services like haircuts and color waxing , facials and massages, but the nail art is what makes this spot stand out. The tri-level space has a colorful haremlike feel with red leather pedicure stations and leopard-print chairs. Sip gratis tea or coffee while one of the seven manicurists on hand (we recommend Nina Levata, who has been doing nails for seven years) prepares the nonacrylic resin that she will apply to your natural nail bed. What starts as a honeylike liquid sets under a heat lamp for just a few minutes to become hard, nonporous nails for LCN natural nail lengths, for LCN tips Once the canvas has been created, the technician will apply 3-D effects like gel flowers and crystals ($10 per nail), or hand-paint anything from abstract prints to amazingly lifelike renditions of iconic New York City sites ($5–$10 per nail) using skinny brushes and special LCN gel nail polish. The salon can also apply any nail art onto a basic manicure ($15). If you do decide to go the LCN route, plan on returning to the salon:Flourish your nails with pretty adornments at this spacious salon, opened in 2003 by Dao Dinh. Her daughter, Kieu Bui (who splits her time doing nail art here and at her sister's salon, Primp & Polish, around the block), is the resident expert of Nail Essence's most unique offering: 3-D nail art (starting at $8 per nail). Bui specializes in creating delicate-looking flowers formed using acrylic powder, and pairs them with stunning, detailed hand-painted designs. The process for 3-D nail art can take nearly two hours to complete, but the results last up to three weeks, thanks to its sturdy Gelish, CND or OPI gel-polish base (keep in mind that you'll have to come back to soak the gel off in acetone for $7). For a unique twist on a traditional manicure, opt for a full set of permanent French tips embedded with crushed and dyed crystalline seashells ($70) or glitter ($60); the tips are set in acrylic powder and need to be refilled after three weeks ($23--$35). If you're looking for something more low maintenance, Nail Essence also offers embellishments by the nail, allowing you to have dainty real dried flowers ($6 per flower) or blingy Swarovski rhinestones ($5 per nail) stuck on your digits.
Bio Sculpture Gel is a one component nail treatment that strengthens and promotes the growth of natural nails. Applied onto a prepared nail our product cures under a UVA light, leaving the nail strong but flexible with a natural glossy finishLike hair, nails require conditioning to prevent it from splitting and becoming brittle. Nutrients are essential for healthy natural nail growth and is a multi-functional conditioner that will compress the nail keratin (which is the protein from which nails are formed) and strengthen soft brittle nails. It will boost the overall health of the natural nail leaving it to grow strong. This Bio Sculpture Treatment Kit has everything needed to moisturize and strengthen natural nails. Kit Contains; Cuticle Finisher (reusable) 10ml Vitamin Dose (nutrient) 10ml Cuticle Softener/Remover (nutrient) 10ml Cuticle Oil (nutrient) 10ml Lavender Base (nutrient) Zipper bag (reusable) Instructional LeafletBio Sculpture is a one-component nail system that is applied to the natural nail with no time consuming build-up process and is self-leveling. No primers or bonders and minimal buffing is required and can be removed by soaking off with Gel Remover, leaving no damage to the natural nail Bio Sculpture to our knowledge is the ONLY nail system that offers a full line of "treatment" gels that allow technicians to customize clients' nails according to their nail plate type. We recognize that all clients have different nails with different needs, just like hair. We not only enhance the clients' natural nails with our products we enhance their lifestyle as wel is a nail hardening treatment that looks thin and natural as your own nails. It supports weak, brittle, or soft flaking nails to grow without using artificial products like acrylic or hard gel nails.

This product does not damage your natural nail plate, and can be worn for weeks without chipping.

We use Bio Sculpture Gel Remover to remove the gel in several minutes without damaging the natural nails. Bio Sculpture Gel is the newest alternative for beautiful, healthier nails
